William Blake

William Blake was an English visionary artist and poet who lived from 1757 to 1827. His work dealt frequently with mystical subjects and was rich with his idiosyncratic spiritual and social views. He is now widely renowned for his enormous creativity and the richness of his output, despite having received little acclaim in his own lifetime.

Blake is often considered a key figure in European art's Romantic Era, but his hugely diverse body of work defies simple categorisation, driven as it was by his independent and avant-garde philosophy.
